What We Do

Educational Consulting

It is crucial to analyze deeply how each educational system operates. In order to conduct this analysis, it is important to gather data and information from different perspectives which are described below:

A. Evaluation and analysis for the following areas: administrative, teaching and learning methodologies, learning supports. These factors are analyzed from the educators, teachers, students and parent’s perspectives.

B. Analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each educational system, from this analysis, a strategic and innovative plan is developed in order to improve and strengthen the teaching and learning opportunities to benefit all students.

C. Development of an action plan to implement these changes to accomplish short and long term goals.

D. Monitor the progress in order to ensure all goals achieved successfully.

Workshops for Educators

Interactive Workshops about Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Tools, strategies and UDL software to complement students learning styles and enable them to gain academic success and independence. Explore and experience the potential of UDL tools to attend student’s diversities. Interactive activities to understand and learn the UDL principles, implementation strategies tools to infuse these concepts in the classroom. Learn how to create and design teaching and learning materials implementing the UDL principles.  Explore and become familiar with many digital interactive UDL tools in order to attend student’s diversities more effectively.

Interactive Workshops about Learning Diversities: These workshops allow the participants to learn and implement the following topics: Understand the meaning and characteristics about learning differences and the teaching methodologies to handle more successfully students’ diversities. Explore interventions and strategies to maximize all students’ learning potential and enable students to become expert learners regardless of their differences (CAST, 2014).

Interactive Workshops about Assistive Technology (AT): AT software, tools and strategies in order to complement students’ learning and allow them to learn independently and successfully. Learn, explore and understand the potential of AT tools to attend students’ diversities.

For these therapies we analyze deeply each case in order to focus specifically in the areas of struggle and also to maximize the potential of other areas. These therapies are possible due to the remarkable potential of the brain to respond to therapeutic stimuli also known as the brain’s neuroplasticity.  Neuroplasticity refers to the possibility of constructing changes in the neurological pathways which can affect how we think, process information, handle emotions, etc.

To get started with these therapies it is never too early (early intervention from 3 months) and it is never too late (+- 99 years old).

Though these therapies we can improve:

  • Self-esteem

  • Attention

  • Reading and writing

  • Self-regulation

  • Social skills

  • Self-expression

  • Emotional regulation

  • Impulsive control

  • Sensory processing

  • Memory

  • Coordination

Multi-sensory Cognitive Therapies

Assistive Technologies

Assistive Technology and strategies are tools, software and programs which can support students learning. CEDU develops a personalized “tool box” for each student:

Once again we conduct a profound analysis for each student in order to determine their strengths and weakness and support them as they learn how to utilize and implement it as a support to their learning needs and become an expert learner.

We teach students how to use each AT tool and organizational skills to achieve academic success and independence.

A. How to utilize each Assistive Technology tools.

B. How to achieve academic success.

C. How to implement organizational strategies.

Bio

Ana Isabel Arathoon Girón

Director and Founder

Welcome!

My name is Ana Isabel Arathoon Giron AKA Isa Arathoon. I was 13 years old when I came to the realization that I wanted to devote my academic, professional and personal life to make changes in educational systems and improve learning opportunities for students who learn differently.

My career interests while originally anchored in personal experience have been enriched with a combination of my academic and professional preparation and experiences. I have been taking important steps on an educational journey that has brought me closer to my career path.

One of those steps has been establishing CEDU an educational consulting and research center. I have a huge compromise as a researcher to improve educational and learning opportunities trying to identify barriers in teaching and learning and also looking for solutions integrating knowledge from the fields of cognition, neuroscience and education which will allow me to make a small contribution towards this lofty goal.

Over the years, I have realized that there are thousands of brilliant students whom underutilize their potential due to rigid learning opportunities that do not attend student’s diversities. I believe that there are many innovative pedagogical concepts, interventions, assistive technologies, tools and strategies that can allow all students to have a change to succeed, gain independence to become expert learners (CAST, 2014) and achieve their personal, academic and professional goals.
